Interested in presenting?

Professionals, advisers and students are encouraged to submit a session proposal form. The deadline to submit a session proposal is February 1. Decisions and information regarding next steps will be communicated via email no later than February 9.

 

Interested in running for student office?

Candidates must complete this application by March 1 to be on the ballot at the 2026 convention.

  • Candidates for the offices of president, vice president and members-at-large of the Southern Interscholastic Press Association must be sophomores or juniors at the time of the Spring Convention. Candidates will serve from the convention their sophomore or junior year through the convention their junior or senior year.
  • To remain a student officer of SIPA, students must remain in good standing on a SIPA member staff at their school, according to their media adviser.
  • Student officers are expected to attend virtual convention planning meetings and will be invited to join all Executive Committee meetings virtually.
  • SIPA’s president presides at the annual convention and may participate in meetings of the Executive Committee.
  • The vice president takes over the president’s responsibilities if the president is unable to meet them.
  • The members-at-large work with other student officers.
  • All officers may contribute to SIPA communications and help plan SIPA sessions and activities.
  • All student officers are offered a complimentary registration (travel not included) to Carolina Journalism Institute.
