2022 SIPA TOP Competitions
March 20, 2022
TOP (Team on-site production) competitions took place during a three-hour period on Saturday, March 5, at the 2022 convention. All teams had to produce their packages during the three-hour time period based on a prompt given to them Friday night and from materials gathered at the SIPA convention. Click on the links to view the full packages each team produced.
Broadcast
Broadcast teams were asked to create a feature package based on the following prompt:
“Time to hit the streets for a “Man on the Street”! Find a person or persons (a fellow SIPA attendee, a convention speaker, a business owner, a group of musicians) you do not know and tell their story in a 1:30-3-minute personality profile or news feature. Make sure they are not from your school and their story has some human interest value. Ask the right questions, get relevant B-roll and get a secondary source or two. If you focus on a fellow convention attendee, do not use someone from your school.”

They shut me up in Prose – (445)
They shut me up in Prose –
As when a little Girl
They put me in the Closet –
Because they liked me “still” –
Still! Could themself have peeped –
And seen my Brain – go round –
They might as wise have lodged a Bird
For Treason – in the Pound –
Himself has but to will
And easy as a Star
Look down opon Captivity –
And laugh – No more have I –
